To a hoops fans, the history of the NBA is fascinating, and some of the records you can uncover are pretty amazing!

There are too many to list here, so I chose 45 of the more interesting and unknown ones.

History of the NBA: Records #1-10

1. Lowest basketball score on record: 1-0

The first basketball game ever played, which took place on December 21, 1891. 

2. Played most games in a career: John "Honey" Russell

He played in more than 3,200 games during his 28-year pro career that began while he was in high school.

3. First great basketball team: The Buffalo Germans

They won the 1904 Summer Olympic basketball exhibition game. They also won 111 consecutive games from 1908-11, including a 134-0 victory over Hobart College.

4. Most shots made in a game from 25+ feet using a 2-handed set shot:

In 1914, on a basket without a backboard, he made 17 shots in one game from 25 feet or more!

5. Single-game scoring record before the 24-second clock: Jumpin' Joe Fulks

He scored 63 points in one game before the shot clock was in effect. He scored 8,591 points in 8 professional seasons during the 1950s.

6. First pro basketball player sold to another team: Clarence Johnson

He was sold by the Baslos Globetrotters to the Fond du Lac, Wisconsin team in 1917 for an undisclosed price.

7. First team to win the ABL title: Cleveland Rosenblums

They won the American Basketball League title in 1925.

8. First NBA superstar: George Mikan

He won 5 consecutive scoring titles and dominated all-around in the late 1940s.

9. Best NBA player to NOT make his high school team: Pitchin' Paul Arizin

He averaged more than 20 points for 9 consecutive seasons and led the NBA in scoring his second season. In 10 seasons throughout the 1950s, he led the NBA twice in scoring and was a 10-time All-Star.

10. First player to score 2,000+ points in a season: George Yardley

He played with the Fort Wayne Pistons and scored 2,001 points for the Detroit Pistons in one season, surpassing the record of 1,932 held by Minneapolis Laker George Mikan.
